Review – Clementoni Old Card (Carte Antique) Puzzle
This stunning puzzle depicts a very decorative world map by Dutch cartographer Henricus Hondius which was issued in the 1630’s. Presented as a double-hemisphere world map it shows the known continents at the time, with the first Dutch explorations of the north coast of Australia. The coasts and borders of the continents are outlined with colour and the seas are populated with ships, sea monsters and sea life. The map also includes a longitude and latitude grid.
Surrounding the double-hemisphere is a very fancy border where portraits of Ptolemy, Mercator, Hondius and Julius Caesar can be found.
