Review – Kraken’s Revenge Roller Coaster
The Kraken’s Revenge is a very striking roller coaster and part of K’NEX’s Thrill Rides range of building sets. The set contains 568 classic K’NEX pieces which includes a motor, chainlift and coaster car. The set also comes with an instruction manual to guide you through each stage of the build. We did find that a couple of the piece colours in the manual didn’t quite match the actual piece colours, but after gaining familiarity with the pieces during the build this wasn’t a problem.
At an impressive 72 cm tall it is quite a large set so does require a fair amount of flat space when building it and the completed set is lightweight so could be moved if needed with a little care. The construction process was very enjoyable and there was a nice ‘click’ to the pieces once they were connected together correctly. We did think that some of the construction steps could be considered a little tricky for the lower target age of the set so adult guidance would likely be required if children are building it.
Once completed and the coaster running for a while we did find that pieces can come loose which can affect the success of the coaster car completing a full circuit, so if you find this occurs just check the pieces and reconnect any loose parts (which can be tricky to spot).
The motor requires 2x AA batteries which are not included.
